Development and production of a reliable Antimine shoe conforming to stringent safety standards was a challenge. A team of competent engineers at SAMAD RUBBER WORKS ensured complete safety in design through computer simulations and numerous field tests and trials. SRW604 AMS, therefore, is a product of continuous research and commitment on part of our development wing and is the only Antimine Shoe being used by the Pakistan Army. The Antimine Shoe works on the principle of weight distribution. The shoe has been constructed to provide maximum protection from pressure sensitive mines. In case of accidental activation of the mine, the design and construction protect the soldier from injury due to hot gases and impact resulting from explosion. Antimine shoes manufactured by our company have successfully been used in a number mine sweeping operations including kuwait without any casualties.
Features
  • Fibreglass shoe frame: the last protection to the soldier's foot comprises anti-skid monolithic fibreglass laminate using isopthalic polyester resin and glass fibre of appropriate weight and special configuration. Contoured to provide maximum structural strength the shoe frame secures the soldier's boot by virtue of its design and quick strapping mechanism.
  • Laminated wooden housing: top and bottom plywood reinforced with fibreglass laminate comprising isopthalic polyester resin and layers of fibreglass. The laminated wooden frame is open from the front and the back for immediate release of compression. The wooden housing holds the steel wedge within its frame.
  • Steel wedge: Anti-magnetic formed steel wedge made of a special grade rests within the laminated wooden housing. The lower part of the wedge cuts through the shock wave emanating from mine activation. The impact energy is thus directed away from the soldier's foot.
  • Foam: load bearing foam pad distributes weight evenly at the base of Antimine Shoe. Completely non-absorbent the foam is manufactured with pre-determined compression parameters. The foam has a specific closed structure and a very low specific gravity. Alternately restructured foam pad is incorporated for rough terrains.
  • Rubberised polyamide fabric: the fabric for the rubberised polyamide encasing is manufactured using high tenacity 840 denier yarn. The fabric is coated with an abrasion and weather resistent polychloroprene rubber layer. The encasing is reinforced on all four vertical edges for maximum protection and durability. Eyelets at a specific height have been provided to avoid penetration of water into the Antimine shoe. These eyelets also cater for release of air when walking with the shoe. They also provide for drainage of water in case it enters the Antimins Shoe.
