ABS plastic is ideal for plating because the material combines the strength and rigidity of the acrylonitrile and styrene polymers with the toughness of the polybutadiene rubber, providing excellent resistance and toughness. In addition, the electrical properties of ABS plastics are fairly constant over a wide range of frequencies, and are little affected by temperature and humidity, giving protection from electrical waves to the plated metal. Finally, the styrene in the material gives the plastics a shiny and smooth surface, making it ideal for decorative and appealing plating.
