CeBIT End of Show Report 2007

Taking its cues from ICT user markets, this year's CeBIT responded to the ever-growing need for orientation, expert advice and networking opportunities by staging the richest program of conferences, forums and lectures in its history. Over 1,000 such events added loads of value for CeBIT-goers this year.

One such event, the European ICT Ministers' Summit, hosted by German Economics Minister Michael Glos, resulted in European-wide agreement on more affordable roaming charges. Equally successful were the premieres of the "Magazine Media 2.0" conference and the Computer Bild "C4 CEO Conference." Other highlights included the CeBIT Summit, the CEO Roundtable, the European ICT Prize, the German-Russian ICT Summit, and the premiere of the "TeleHealth" conference and exhibition.

This year's enriched program of conferences and talks, featuring the very best minds in the industry, already provided a taste of things to come as the show's new strategic concept for 2008 continues to take shape. Deutsche Messe Board Member Ernst Raue: "The new format is already bearing fruit. With the digital world becoming ever more complex and its challenges ever more demanding, CeBIT will fulfill its trendsetter role by serving as a solutions platform with an enhanced program of conferences and seminars."

CeBIT turns the corner

Featuring overall attendance of approximately 480,000 (an increase of more than 10 percent compared with 2006), deals worth around 11 billion euros and a rich array of innovations geared to business users, the public sector, prosumers and consumers, CeBIT 2007 was abuzz with activity from beginning to end. As this year's official Partner Country, the Russian Federation fielded some 170 exhibitors, who together impressively underscored Russia's vast potential as an ICT nation.

More trade visitors

The exhibitors' overwhelmingly positive assessment of this year's CeBIT is due in large measure to the marked increase in the number of trade visitors with decision-making authority. CeBIT 2007 attracted 379,000 trade visitors, up 14,000 over the previous year. Surveys revealed that one of the largest groups of visitors - over 35,000 in total - consisted of specialists from the manufacturing industries, including the automotive industry and plant and mechanical engineering.

Record participation by exhibitors from abroad

CeBIT 2007 also achieved record levels of international participation, with 3,344 of its exhibitors coming from abroad. Companies from 76 nations used the show to promote their global business agendas.
